7. Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task, What Do you Feel you have Learnt in the Progression from it to the Full Product?

Our Prelim was a thriller called 'Withheld' starring myself and Emily G.

GROUP DYNAMICS:
  • I had a different group for our final project, but many of the teamwork and discussion skills I learnt were transferable.
  • We didn't have any arguments  and our collective vision for our project was very strong
  • From the prelim, I learnt how to express my ideas clearly, as there was a lot more miscommunication while producing it.
  • When producing 'Turning Pages' we were able to discuss any differences in opinion concerning shooting or editing decisions openly and without any group tension

All actresses were in our group so there was no need
We had to arrange shoot days to fit the actors playing Noah and Jess
Storyboarding
We made a storyboard and took photos.

We made a storyboard and an animatic.

Location and reccies
In school, the media department - we learnt how to coorperate with other people who were working in the space

Primrose Hill – had to do reccie and shoot outside of school - had to film around the other people in the park

Job Roles
Anna-Killer
Emily-Victim
Arianna-Producer
We shared out other production roles and took turn editing
Anna & Sharlene-producers, directors, cameramen
Emily-Lila
We all equally contributed towards post production
Scripting
Cheesy typical thriller lines, learnt how to create enigma and convey narrative

Tried to add some light humour and warmth

Using Master Shot

Running On Action
We did several takes of all the lines one after another

There were many disruptions on the hill, so this allowed our Actors to start and stop whenever they needed

Capturing
Captured All footage
Captured all footage
Feedback
We didn’t get any audience feedback
We held a screening for members of our target audience

Although the two media texts I produced were of different genres and from different parts of a completed film, most of the skills used in planning and production were the same and highly useful. I felt more prepared for producing our final text, and knowing what to expect and having the skills needed made the production process smoother, easier and more enjoyable.
